King’s Worcester Prep School Secures Place Amongst UK’s Top Netball Schools
Netballers from King’s Worcester Prep School, King’s St Alban’s are celebrating after being crowned Champions in the IAPS Netball Regional Tournament, before going on to win the Bowl at the National Finals.
Out of 223 schools, only 20 reached the finals, securing King’s St Alban’s a place amongst the top 9% of the schools in the country for netball.
This remarkable achievement also marks only the second time in King’s Worcester’s history a team has won an IAPS regional round, and the third time a team has reached the finals.
The Regional tournament, which took place at Wrekin College, saw the team secure convincing wins against familiar opponents, RGS The Grange, as well as Prestfelde, Repton and Packwood, before beating Warwick Prep in the final.
It was only a few days later that the U11 team travelled to Bryanston School for the National Finals. After some strong performances in the group stage, the team progressed to the finals for the Bowl, where they played a nail-biting game against Berkhampstead, winning 11-3 to take the title.
Alex Jordan, Head of Girls’ Games, said: '
We are so proud of all our Under 11s for their hard work, determination and for putting their all into every match. Their approach was simple; focus on each game, one at a time, and play to the very best of their ability. We are also so grateful to their parents and guardians for their unwavering support of the team and for us as a school.
'These outstanding results show that the future of netball is looking brighter than ever, not just at King’s St Alban’s, but as our netballers move through to King’s Worcester’s Senior School.'
