Canfordians secure over 450 offers to top universities
Canford School in Wimborne has a deserved reputation for high academic achievement and pupil outcomes.
With the current round of university applications in full swing, we are absolutely thrilled for the 146 Canfordians who have applied via UCAS to top institutions this year. With more than 250 decisions still pending, they have between them gained 452 offers so far for over 200 different courses, which is a tremendous achievement and represents 3 offers per applicant to date.
From individual academic subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geography, Modern Languages, Music, Politics and Physics to vocational courses including Accounting and Finance, Art Curating, Aerospace Engineering, Film and Television Studies, Journalism, Law, Medicine, Neuroscience and Physiotherapy, as ever the range of courses and institutions illustrates the breadth of talents and interests which makes Canford such a rich and dynamic learning environment.
Among the most popular destinations for applications this year are top Russell Group institutions including Bristol, Cardiff, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Loughborough, Newcastle and UCL. Huge congratulations also go to the seven Canfordians who have navigated the rigorous and challenging Oxbridge entry process, four to Cambridge and three to Oxford reading Classics, History, Natural Sciences and Land Economy and Biological Sciences, History and Theology and Religion respectively.

Our Upper Sixth Canfordians who have worked extremely hard on their higher education applications and we are all so proud of what they have achieved to date with these outcomes. Canford has a strong legacy of success of pupils gaining offers to the top universities in the UK and internationally, but we also ensure that those for whom university is not the right choice opportunities are given to further explore their own career journeys through degree apprenticeships and the world of work. It is critical to us that every individual pupil is encouraged and prepared for whichever pathway they choose beyond school. Two Canfordians have been awarded prestigious Arkwright Engineering scholarships this year sponsored by the RAF and South West Water, and pupils are considering a diverse range of careers across a broad spectrum of sectors. We look forward to seeing the final destinations of this talented year group and wish them all every success as they continue to prepare for A Level exams this summer.'
