Lord Wandsworth College appoints new Head of Cricket

Former England, Surrey and Somerset cricketer, Greg Kennis has been appointed the new Head of Cricket at Lord Wandsworth College, near Hook.

Mr Kennis has spent the last 18 years professionally coaching at Somerset County Cricket Club, leading the talent pathway and high-performance programmes before becoming Assistant and Second XI Coach. He has helped the Somerset side to their One-Day Cup victory in 2019, the Twenty20 Cup success of 2023 and more recently, the 2nd Xl T20 Trophy last summer.

He said, “I am delighted to have the opportunity to inspire the next generation of cricketers at LWC. It’s an exciting change for me professionally and I’m looking forward to identifying and developing some real cricketing talent amongst our girls and boys.”

Lord Wandsworth College has been named for the ninth year running, in the top 100 senior schools for cricket by The Cricketer’s Schools Guide 2025.

Nine female students from the College have also received call-ups to county cricket sides during this academic year.

Headmaster of Lord Wandsworth College, Adam Williams reflected, “Cricket is thriving here at LWC and Greg’s arrival is not only a chance to move the dial even further in the sphere of high-performance, but also to continue to widen opportunities for pupils of all ages and strengthen partnerships at club, county and regional level.”
