ACS Cobham students use 3D printing to fundraise for school community
Students at the ‘Makers Gonna Make’ club at ACS International School Cobham in Surrey have creatively designed a number of 3D printed, laser cut and sublimation products from their own digital designs including stickers, keyrings, mugs, badges and Christmas decorations, and sold them to their peers and teachers at the school’s premier Market Day event.
Since September, 15 students in the lunchtime tech club have been learning how to transform their own design ideas into products which can be produced, marketed, packaged, and sold.
Lyndsey Stuttard, ÍÑ¿ã°Éal Technology Specialist at ACS Cobham, said:
'We are so proud of our students who have developed vital future skills by being a part of Makers Gonna Make club. Over the last few months they have been using digital tools to craft unique and creative items, as well as enhance their entrepreneurial mindsets by marketing, packaging, and selling these pieces. Valuing creative approaches has been a staple investment with our digital resources at ACS Cobham, helping students find their voice through choice to see value in their original ideas. The club has been a huge success, and we look forward to welcoming a new cohort of students in January.'

The art of ‘making’ is important to have in a school because it builds on your imagination and lets you learn more about how machines work to make object come to life. It also lets you have freedom in what you wish to create and encourages you to apply this to real world situations.'
