Royal Hospital School Welcomes New Chaplain, Reverend Katherine Page
The Royal Hospital School (RHS) in Holbrook, Suffolk, has welcomed its new Chaplain, Reverend Katherine Page, who will begin her new role on 1st January 2025.
As school Chaplain, Rev’d Page will support the school community and help pupils discover and develop their own faith and spirituality.
Rev’d Page grew up in Surrey, attending St. John’s School in Leatherhead, where she first felt a call to ministry. After completing her Theology degree at Westminster College, Oxford, she then earned a PGCE at Homerton College, Cambridge. Previously the Head of the PRE Department at RHS, Rev’d Page also taught Religious Studies at Woodbridge School and Wymondham College.
Prior to her ordination, Rev’d Page took time away to travel with her husband, an RAF officer, and to raise their four children, three of whom now attend RHS. Her travels included living in Cyprus, the USA and across the UK. Once she returned, she resumed teaching and served as a volunteer Hospital Chaplain. A chance conversation at a Christmas service inspired her to begin her ordination training at Westcott House, Cambridge, where she completed a Master’s in Theology, Mission and Ministry.
As the Assistant Curate at All Saints Church, Marlow, Rev’d Page will rejoin the RHS community, with which she’s had a relationship for over 20 years.
Reverend Katherine Page commented on her appointment saying: “I care deeply about pastoral care and spiritual growth, and look forward to developing an environment which includes and supports everyone; pupils, families and staff alike. It is an exciting time to be joining RHS and I am delighted to be part of this community, helping everyone discover their unique gifts, and supporting the wellbeing of all.”
RHS also extends their gratitude to Reverend Laura Mumford as she departs the school after two years.
Headmaster of RHS, Irfan Latif commented: “We are all very grateful to Laura for her contributions and we know that many pupils and parents will join us in expressing our shared gratitude for the impact she has had. Her compassion, kindness, guidance and warm spirit will be missed, but we wish her all the best on her journey with the Diocese.
We also extend a warm welcome to Reverend Katherine Page as she joins us to provide support and reassurance to pupils and parents. Reverend Page brings a wealth of experience with her in pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and community building, making her a valuable addition to our school family. We are truly fortunate to have her join us in this valuable role.”
The Chapel at RHS is regarded as the spiritual hub of school life and Chapel Service occurs two mornings per week and on most Sundays.
