St George’s Ascot achieves record breaking top grades at GCSE

Year 11 pupils at St George’s Ascot are celebrating their best performance ever at GCSE demonstrating strong ‘value added’ once again in these exams.

An impressive 43% of GCSEs were awarded at Grade 8 and 9 (the ‘old’ A*) and 62% at 9, 8 and 7 (the old A*/A) which is the best performance in GCSEs at St George’s ever (not including 2020 and 2021 when exams did not take place).

Ten girls, Grace D, Amber D, Seesy D, Amanda E, Katie G, Asha H, Lucy K, India K, Aanya S and Charlotte W, from the year group of 47 achieved a clean sweep of grades 9, 8 and 7.

Liz Hewer, Head, commented 'We are enormously proud of these excellent grades and the strong academic foundation the girls have developed as part of their full and vibrant school experience. We know that the girls are excited to be embarking on their chosen A Level subjects and all that the St George’s Sixth Form has to offer and we look forward to supporting them in their exciting and diverse educational journeys ahead.'

St George’s is a thriving independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18 offering an ambitious, connected and future-facing education tailored for girls to realise their potential both at school and in fulfilling adult lives ahead.

Awarded ‘excellent’ in its November 2022 ISI inspection, the report speaks of pupils demonstrating ‘healthy self-knowledge, well developed study skills, first-class social skills and an awareness of the world around them.’
