Papplewick boys to enjoy adventure based trip to Africa 'The Stag Challenge' to raise money for Ubunye Foundation
This exciting trip for 14 Year 8 boys who have a passion for adventure and helping others
It will provide an opportunity to help impoverished communities in the Eastern Cape of South Africa and allow the boys to push their own personal boundaries through adventure-based learning activities. The trip will be 11 days in-country during the Easter Holiday 2024 They will be partnering with the Ubunye Foundation to raise money to build an ablution block for one of their Early Learning Centres. The boys will be involved in the fundraising leading up to the trip. The Stag Challenge boys will also have the opportunity to come up with their own fundraising initiatives. An integral part of the Stag Challenge is a site visit to the early learning centre that we have partnered with. This will allow the boys to see for themselves how their efforts have made a difference. They will spend time at the centre helping out with lessons and interacting with the children. The “Challenge” culminates in climbing the Great Winterberg, at 2371 m, the highest mountain in the Cape Province.
Headmaster Tom Bunbury sad "This an incredible opportunity for the boys to be able to contribute , spending quality time at the centre with the children will be such a rewarding experience, and also a brilliant chance to push their own boundaries with mountain climbing, white water rafting etc.. They take great pride in thinking up their own schemes to fundraise also . We much look forward to hearing about their endeavours after Easter. Watch this space!'
