Chapel Choir in Berlin

The Chapel Choir were invited to participate in an international choral concert at the Berlin Philharmonie, singing Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem conducted by the internationally renowned conductor Simon Halsey.

Through their six days in Germany, they were not only involved in rehearsals in the Haus des Rundfunks and the Berlin Philharmonie, but also had the opportunity to take in the sights, sounds, and tastes of this incredible city – visiting museums, churches, art galleries, historical sites, and places of cultural interest.

The concert contained a large chorus of around ten choirs, and the orchestra Ensemble Crescere, with soloists Iwona Sobotka (soprano) and Georg Streuber (baritone). Various published reviews of the concert have acclaimed that “The performance was a revelation”, and that “It was beyond compare. There was nothing to compare it to: they had struck gold”.

The experience for the pupils was awe-inspiring and overwhelming. Singing alongside, and holding their own with, international choirs from Europe and the United States in arguably the world’s most famous concert hall will surely be a memory that will last a lifetime.
