The 'Gaggle': A school adventure in the Yorkshire Dales
Students and staff embarked yesterday on a memorable event known as the 'Gaggle.' This cherished tradition saw participants choosing from four routes that wind through the picturesque landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. Each route offered its own unique experience, catering to different interests and abilities.
For the daring cyclists among us, the longest route presented an exhilarating off-road journey encircling Ingleborough. Meanwhile, three other routes catered to walking enthusiasts of various levels. These options included a traverse of Ingleborough, a section known as the 'Settle Loop' on the Pennine Bridleway, and the tranquil pathways of the Ribble Valley.
This year's 'Gaggle' witnessed an impressive turnout, with 293 enthusiastic students taking part. Among them, 56 individuals opted for the challenging long walk, while five intrepid cyclists fearlessly tackled the mountain bike option. Accompanied by exceptional weather—clear skies and a refreshing breeze—the participants who embraced the adventure were in high spirits throughout the day.
With over 300 pairs of feet covering a staggering distance of 3000 miles, the success of the event can be credited to the dedicated staff members and, of course, a touch of good fortune.
