Community is King!

Clayesmore Prep help out in the community ‘The Big Help Out’

A team of 150 happy helpers from Clayesmore Prep are getting out into the community on Friday 5 May to join the nationwide community project ‘The Big Help Out’; the nationwide campaign to mark His Majesty The King’s Coronation.

The youngest Clayesmorians from Years 2 to 6 will be joining the fantastic team at the Big Yellow Bus Garden Project in Shillingstone

This incredible four acre oasis has been developed over the past six years by Paul Williams and his army of volunteers and is entirely for community use.  Clayesmore pupils will be working hard as well as enjoying this delightful space - weeding, planting, wildlife spotting and learning about growing vegetables for the local community.

Assistant Head, Years 2 - 6 Charlotte Townsend said ‘The Big Yellow Bus Project is not only a haven for everyone but is truly inspirational.   I hope that our children will really enjoy not only giving some of their time to help but also gain greater understanding of the importance of looking after our community. I am very grateful to Paul for accommodating us all.’

At your Service

Year 7s are off to Blandford Forum to help the busy staff at all 3 of the towns’ supermarkets - Marks and Spencer, Tesco & Morrisons, as they ramp up for a big ticket Coronation weekend!  Pupils will be packing for customers, litter picking and welcoming shoppers at the stores as they arrive to shop for their celebration party food for the weekend.

Fit for a King

Year 8s will be working alongside the Grounds team at Clayesmore, to prepare the Coronation Games for the Prep school’s ‘Big Coronation Tea Party’ in the afternoon. They will also be planting a commemorative tree to mark the occasion in our aptly named Jubilee Walk. Prep pupils, staff and parents will be treated to an afternoon of red, white and blue!  Assistant Head, Years 7&8  Dan Browse says ‘This is a great opportunity for Clayesmore pupils to help members of our local community. We view it as being a key part of being a Clayesmorian to look out for others and the pupils are very excited!’
