Alpha Plus Group announces the opening of Little Wetherby at Edge Street in Kensington W8 in September 2023.

The Alpha Plus Group are delighted to announce the opening of a new co-educational nursery at 27 Edge Street, W8, close to Notting Hill Gate and Kensington Church Street, from September 2023.

Little Wetherby at Edge Street will accommodate girls aged 2 to 4 and boys up to 5 in a magnificent 7,466 sq ft period building with generous rooms and high ceilings.

Little Wetherby at Edge Street will be part of Wetherby Kensington School, but it will prepare pupils for all the Alpha Plus schools in the local area, including Wetherby School, Wetherby Kensington, Pembridge Hall and Chepstow House School. Children who attend Little Wetherby at Edge Street will enjoy priority entry to all of those schools, compatibly with their respective admission policies.

Located in The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), close to Notting HillGate and Kensington Church Street, Little Wetherby will be both a nursery and early years school. Young children (2-3) will be able to opt for half days or full days, and older children (3-4) will enjoy a full day provision. In time, Little Wetherby Edge Street will also cater for children of Reception age.

As part of Wetherby Kensington School, Little Wetherby at Edge Street will be under the educational leadership of Liz Ms McLaughlin, the incoming Head of Wetherby Kensington School. Miss Jemima Jones, the current Head of Early Years at Wetherby School, will become the Head of the Early Years unit at Edge Street. Supporting Miss Jones in the day-to-day education of children will be fully qualified teachers and specialist teachers for lessons in art, music and foreign languages.

Children will have access to a holistic and aspirational curriculum that will prepare them to be happy, well-rounded and confident learners. Through individualised learning and a well-balanced approach between structured and independent learning, the children will gain key skills for the future. They will enjoy plenty of physical activity in the Hall, which is a double height room on the ground floor, benefitting from floor to ceiling heights of over 4 metres. Children will also enjoy regular and easy access to the 600 acres of green spaces at Hyde Park and Holland Park, which is just 750 metres from the school. Further outside space will be on the school premises. Forest School will be a regular weekly activity, allowing children to observe, plant, grow and tender to lots of plants and insects. An on-site kitchen, on the lower ground floor, will prepare and serve healthy and nutritious meals and snacks to power the little ones through their busy day.

The site will be open for visitors to view from summer term of 2023, after a programme of refurbishments. For early registrations and enquiries, please contact enquiries@littlewetherbyedgestreet.co.uk.
