Falcons School for Girls supports return of neighbouring Barnes FC
Falcons School for Girls is proud to announce its general sponsorship of returning local
football team, Barnes FC, who are set to make their comeback to the football scene at
neighbouring Rosslyn Park, this 2022/2023 Season.
By supporting the revival of this local historical team, the independent girls’ school demonstrates its commitment to pupil wellbeing and to helping drive gender equality through education, with sport being a key platform for change.
As a school that prides itself in nurturing its pupils to become global and local responsible citizens, this exciting new partnership showcases its dedication to the neighbouring community, as Barnes FC’s soon-to-be home-ground is just minutes away from the Putney-based school.
The not-for-profit club, who took part in the first ever FA Cup in 1871-72, is setting out to create a family-friendly club and atmosphere, focussing on Youth Team Development and welcoming all ages of the local community to enjoy their matches and events.
The club is set to host Senior Team trials over the coming months, followed by Girls and Boys Junior Teams (from U9 – U18s), ahead of the anticipated season kick-off in August 2022, where Barnes FC (otherwise known as the Knights) will be playing in the Surrey & South-East Combination League.
Headmistress at Falcons School for Girls, Mrs Sara Williams-Ryan commented,
“We are thrilled to be supporting local Barnes FC in their exciting comeback and are very much looking forward to seeing the value they will bring to developing local youth talent! As a sporting school with many high-achieving students, we look forward to engaging with the coaching teams and players to inspire our pupils and of course, will be encouraging our families to try out for the squads and to support the team!”
Head of Business & Youth Development at Barnes FC, Jose Rosario commented,
"Barnes FC is very proud to partner with the Falcons School for Girls as we share the same values and passion for sports and particularly football. We look forward to working together with the school community to further develop youth talent in the wider local borough."
