Children’s Heart Surgery Fund Donation

Children from St Peter’s School, York, have made a special donation to Children’s Heart Surgery Fund this Christmas. Children’s Heart Surgery Fund supports children and adults born with congenital heart disease across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.

The children chose Children’s Heart Surgery Fund as this year’s School Charity after it was nominated by Sophie, one of the pupils at St Peter’s 2-8 (the pre-prep school for St Peter’s).

Sophie’s cousin has been helped by the charity and Sophie wanted to make a difference by donating gifts and toys to bring joy to the lives of children staying in the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit this Christmas.

The children from St Peter’s 2-8 have created gift bags which include sweets and craft materials for children supported by the charity.

Each gift bag also contains a special QR code, linked to a video made by the children at St Peter’s 2-8. In the videos, the children explain how to complete a simple craft activity using the materials provided in the gift bag.

The St Peter’s School community has also been collecting new toys for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund this Christmas. Sophie, her friends and the St Peter’s 2-8 House Captains delivered the gift bags and toys to Children’s Heart Surgery Fund’s offices in Leeds on Thursday 9 December.

Antonia Clarke, Deputy Head at St Peter’s 2-8, said: "We hope the donations bring a little bit of Christmas magic for the children in hospital and we look forward to fundraising for Children’s Heart Surgery Fund in 2022."
