The mission at Christ’s Hospital – which was founded as a charitable school – has always been to educate bright boys and girls regardless of their background through an extraordinarily generous bursary fund: 13 per cent of pupils receive fully supported places, and 73 per cent receive some level of financial assistance.  The school has been overshadowed in recent years by historic abuse cases.     Bursaries
    Christ’s Hospital offers means-tested bursaries of up to 100 per cent of fees (including boarding) to new students who qualify as well as existing students whose financial circumstances have changed. Applications are judged against suitability, both academically and with respect to wider school life, as well as need. The application process contains the usual full financial history and home visit and is subject to an annual review.

    The school is currently in the process of fundraising to allow it to offer 18 more fully funded places for children from disadvantaged backgrounds through its ‘Bright Futures’ campaign.
